Is it worth celebrating to God?

3 minute read

If there's anyone who loves a good celebration, it's me! Celebrating is defined as:

  • To honor an occasion, such as a holiday, with ceremonies or by refraining from ordinary business
  • To mark an anniversary with festivities or other deviation from routine
  • To enjoy an occasion by participating in special activities
  • To praise someone or something by expressing admiration and approval
  • To lead a religious ceremony

Think of what's being celebrated by society today. Is it worth celebrating to God?

It's a tragedy that for the most part, we're celebrating the wrong things- primarily sin and sinful behaviors. Second to that, are man-made "holidays", religious traditions that have no true value, and material possessions that create debt instead of Kingdom access to assets that produce wealth- the inherent wealth God gave us the power to create!

We're celebrating doing things "our way", with no regard to God's design for His Kingdom on earth, His creation of man, and His manual that instructs us on the only way to truly live the best life ever- His Way! But so many think they are smarter than God.

so many think they are smarter than God

At the time of writing this, I have two teenagers and a young adult son. My children are amazing! Now, my youngest is in the phase of trying things her way- rebelling against my instruction. Falsely believing she's out-smarting me when she plays "new" games, and tries "new" tricks to deceive me. Getting angry with me when her way causes more problems for herself. Sometimes, the turnaround is quick. Sometimes it takes a few weeks, months, or even years for her to realize,

"Ah! Mama was..." What? "Right!" And this is true for my husband's relationship with her, too!

You may already see where I'm going with this, or have made the parent-child connection of God and you. But, I want to take celebrating doing things our way a step deeper...

As human parents, we are still imperfect. So we can be (and are) wrong sometimes. As our children age, my husband and I grant them age-appropriate privileges we feel they have earned and/or can handle. Even then, their misuse or mismanagement shows us they still need more preparation. Because the ultimate goal is to get them self-sufficient and independent of us. Right?...

Consider this- the government and society are made up of imperfect humans. They decided to put age stipulations in place, along with societal expectations for what each age is supposed to mean or demand. These imperfect people made that stuff up! And when we look- even just glance- at how flawed, unfair, unjust, biased, etc., etc., the government and society are, we can see the fallacies and foolishness of doing things their way. This can effectively influence and/or become our way.

Turning our attention back to God. Now consider a perfect in all the ways, always, one and only God who also created you, and all creation, who loves you more than you can ever comprehend- says, "I see the beginning to the end, I am The Guide to show you the way through your life's path. And, here's a physical guide to assist you that includes instructions with built-in protections and boundaries to keep you safe and have the best live ever!"

Then we say, "I'll do it my way".
